This site is dedicated to all domestic cats and to all cat lovers!
The benefits of owning domestic cats run the gamut age-wise. Children, adults, seniors and especially people with disabilities or other physical limitations can all have an enjoyable experience by having a house cat.
Cat lovers like the fact that their feline is a quiet animal. There will seldom be any loud annoying sounds coming from your house cat. It would be a good idea to learn more about the different cat breeds.
Some cat breeds are more talkative than others. Siamese, Burmese, Egyptian Mau and Singapura are examples of talkative cats. Ocicat, Bengal cat and Egyptian Mau are active cats. They need lots of space.
Examples of quiet cats are British Shorthair, Ragdoll cat, Persian cat and Exotic Shorthair.
It is said that if you have a child with asthma, then it is not recommended owning a cat. However, oddly enough, if your child does not have it, they say owning a house cat can help keep them from getting asthma. Cat lovers have also found that owning a cat helps them to have a more fulfilled, and in some cases longer life.
Additionally, it is also said that those who own cats go to the doctor’s office less often than people who do not have a cat. Perhaps the best benefit of owning a cat of all though may be the companionship and unconditional love that you will receive from your house cat. The only problem that people looking for a house cat run into is usually deciding on the exact type or breed of cat to get. There are indeed plenty of beautiful breeds from which to choose.
The hazards of keeping a cat indoors are minimal. House cats do not go to the bathroom just anywhere, nor do they need to be let outside to relieve themselves. Nope, a tray and some cat litter and that is pretty much “problem solved.”
Provided the animal is spayed, or neutered, there should not be an issue. Cats are, of course, territorial. The likelihood of keeping one cat, or more, in a household environment without being fixed is pretty much a fantasy. You do not want males spraying their scent all over your home. Granted there are natural remedies available. Ask your vet, or visit your local pet shop.
Declawing a cat is wrong. It goes against nature and puts the animal in peril should it get out of the house. Obviously, the cat would not be able to defend itself against predators and would surely fall prey to a wayward dog, or wildlife.
There are healthier alternatives out there to prevent Tabby from clawing up Auntie's antique sofa. There are a variety of sprays available at any retail, or chain pet store. Scratching posts prove quite effective in handling this problem. Be fair to the animal. You don't want a cat in your house holding a grudge against you for the rest of its life for removing what are essentially its fingernails.
Cats are a God send. They are charming, delightful furry little creatures that brighten your world and improve your outlook on life.
Attempting to contemplate a world without cats is impossible. It's just too sad.
It's nice to know that on an especially dark day, there is a ray of hope, a shaft of light in the form of a feline waiting for you at the end of the tunnel.
